What I’m Thinking:
I’m very annoyed that Lady Gaga didn’t get an Oscar nod for The House of Gucci!!! I’ve been listening to this performance of “Gypsy” on repeat and I think it’s like, low-key transcendental.
The single most unhinged realization I've had in recent memory is that the main reason I got so unhealthily thin in college is that I've always been an academic overachiever and I internally decided that if I was going to have an eating disorder (already extremely #embarrassing), I had to excel at it, hence getting down under 85 pounds as a junior at Cornell.
Like, if a straight man has never told you that you're like a 6-credit PhD course that has to be dropped during add-drop period because you're just SO complicated and difficult, can you really say that Lenka's "Everything At Once" is your theme song? This question is brought to you by a guy telling me this at a party sophomore year of college and then getting super annoyed when I told him that I really wasn't complicated, he was just very simple. He apparently is married now so Godspeed I guess.
I was an English major and my honors thesis was extremely #on-brand. The Cornell English department was lucky to have me!
What I’m Reading:
“Why America Has So Few Doctors” by Derek Thompson: I’m so glad I didn’t become a doctor, and this article didn’t make me change my stance on that.
“The Sex Scene Is Dead, Long Live The Sex Scene” from the New Yorker Staff: This about summarizes it.
“The Left Is Gaslighting Asian Americans About College Admissions” by Jonathan Chait: I mean…. yeah, this is one of the things you absolutely become aware of when you attend an Ivy League school and that nobody talks about ever.
Life in the Middle Ages, First Comes Joy, Then Comes Marriage by Connie Schultz: SWEAR TO BE OVERDRAMATIC AND TRUE etc.
